When I started my business, small business experts asked me “do you have a business plan?” or “do you know your competitors?”

Not one person on my journey said to me, “Do you have an emotional business plan?” or “do you know yourself?” Most businesses fail because the owner is unaware that certain emotional hurdles need to be overcome.

It took me a painful time to realize that whatever follows me in life will follow me in my business. Your business is not a separate place you visit where you leave your emotions out on a hanger. They go where you go. It is important to control what emotions flare up when you walk into your business. Once you are aware of your emotional triggers, you can try to make peace with them.

If you can’t live off your prices, take a look at what stands between you and setting prices that reflect the greatness you bring to your customers.

If you can’t say no to customer demands, take a look at what’s stopping you from setting human boundaries for yourself.

If you can’t bring your business to a new perspective, take a look at what’s keeping you from seeing business as an adventure.

If you can’t show love for your business, take a look at why you opened this type of business in the first place.

Being human is all about emotion, even in business. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not telling you the business truth.
