Having worked on many political campaigns over the last four decades, as well as having written hundreds of articles, on current affairs and common sense, I am troubled by how often so many people pay so little attention and are drawn to the politicians, who seem to simply be telling you what it seems, right now, that you want to hear (even if that individual’s actions and behaviors have not), rather than what you need to know! While most would probably agree, we are currently experiencing more polarization and partisan politics/lack of cooperation than ever before, in recent memory they seem unable or unwilling to attempt to limit some RIGHTS, for short-term personal/political agendas and/or self-interest, puts the real democracy of this nation at risk, in the future! With that in mind, this article will briefly try to consider, examine, review and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why it is important.

one. Important; religion (or not); correct thing; manager: Unless/until we protect all our rights, instead of selective ones, and realize, for example, freedom of religion, it means that everyone has the right to observe the one they chose (or to decide not to observe any), and this nation, by design, does not have a national religion (We are not a “Christian State”), we risk our future democratic principles! Rights must be relevant and doing the right thing, at a specific moment, in time, means acting responsibly, with common sense! For example, public health and public safety must take precedence over so-called unlimited Second Amendment rights and/or so-called personal freedoms, as an excuse to harmonize health and/or safety, for the greater good!

two. Integrity; inspired: Our national leaders must hold themselves to the highest standards of personal, genuine, and consistent integrity so that they can best inspire others to do what is right!

3. Generate goodwill; Greater good: We must start prioritizing the greater good and building goodwill, by being open and inclusive, so that all our freedoms and rights grow in importance and devotion!

Four. Human; heart head; healing: Wouldn’t we, as a nation, benefit from electing human leaders, who prioritize healing and coming together, rather than polarization? Leaders willing to use the best components of their emotional and logical potentials, in a balance of mind and heart, are needed to truly keep America as great as it should be!

5. Together; trustworthy: If those, whom we elect, were perceived as much more trustworthy, wouldn’t it make sense, could they, better, unite us, for the greater good?

6. System; solutions (all, non-selective); stronger; Service: How should American systems foster solutions that protect all of our rights, rather than merely selective and self-serving solutions? We must seek to make our democratic forms stronger and more sustainable, if we hope that our constitutional guarantees are of more service and value to all!

If the United States is going to continue to be the voice of freedoms, human rights, and democratic ideas around the world, we must start leading by example! Wake up, America, before it’s too late!
